I live in an apartment building with several other waygooks and a couple on the same floor. I was wondering if we set up a wifi system could we use the same internet conection and just split the connection fee, we all work different times so it would be rare when more than one of us tries to use it at once.

i know nothing about wireless internet so, can it transmit through concrete walls doors etc. and what type of range does it have? or does that depend on the router?

more walls = less range (in general).
You'd have to look at the broadcast range. My router has 100% signal diagonally through two load-bearing walls, from my basement rec-room to master bedroom.
You could buy a router and supplement it with extra access points, antennae, etc. as neccessary.
