Hi, has anyone been to the Korean archery place in Daejeon? Or, does anyone go there regularly? What's it like, prices etc?

I recommend that you talk to a poster named Blue Lake. He may be able to guide you in the right direction.
I do Korean traditional archery in Seoul. There is a shooting range/membership club for every Gu (district) in Seoul, so about 8-12 different places here to shoot. Maybe it's the same in Daejeon. I don't know. Keep me informed.
Are you just starting on the sport, or just moving to the area?

Hey Hapki, I'll try to pm Blue lake. I've actually just moved to Gongju ( 1 month now) it's about 40-50 mins from Daejeon. I was looking up daejeon on the net and saw on the city map the Korean archery place. I've always been intersted in archery but never had a go, so I was just looking for some info. Do u train every night, like in hapkido etc, or do you just go when you want to? I was thinking it would be quite cool to have a go at it on the weekends. Do they have classes there in Seoul or is it just turn up and do your own thing?

Just to clear up some points to give you a better understanding about Korean traditional archery.

1. Its outside, in the country. This would lead me to believe that mid to small size cities such as Gongju might have a range tucked away somewhere close.

2. The target is 145 meters away. The shooter's arrow trajectory is dependent on his/her bow's draw weight.

3. Shooting is normally done in the daytime, as seeing the arrow in flight is a thrill unto itself. My range, named ������, sometimes lights up the targets for night shooting, but this is rare.

4. If you were to start up at an archery club, initial start-up costs would include- membership initiation fee of 100,00won or so, cost of the Korean traditional bow and arrows (200,000-400,000won), a thumb ring (15,000-40,000won) and monthly dues of 20,000won. At that point, a skilled member would teach you the basics to get you started. I personally spent a couple months on a training pole before I even got to shoot at a real live target.

5. Once you are a member, you can go as often as you like. I try and go 3 times a week, at least. It helps that my �� (range) is in a very beautiful setting, with sloping hills on each side and a small stream winding from the target through past the shooting area. It's also only a 20 minute drive from home. You wrote,

Actually, some of the clubs (��) are in the cities (one, near Kyongbok Palace in Seoul [Ȳ����] is as much in a city as you can get).
