Which one would you choose?
I posted a message on the resume boards last night and have an in-box full of recruiter solicitations. Many of them clearly didn't read my message or resume, they're just running the numbers. But a few seem decent... I'm tempted.
What do you all think? Are there any recruiters you can recommend from experience? Thanks in advance for your help! |

I went with Work N Play. Worked well for me.
As for recruiters listening to your requirements... I was just having a conversation with a friend about that last night. It seems they don't even read anything you say. Kinda funny. |

Yeah, I said in the headline, our website AND both resumes that we'd be available beginning in mid-August; they invited me to apply for jobs starting in May. I said we were looking for less than 30 working hours a week; they wrote me about full-time+ jobs. I don't blame them for using form letters, but I am kind of disappointed that I've only heard from one real school... and that was the one with far more hours than we want. |

| DON'T 'go with one recruiter'. Go with EVERY recruiter. Chuck your resume out everywhere you can, with every recruiter you can find, and keep scanning all the jobs they send you until you find one you like. If you go with only one recruiter you're just limiting the number of job offers you're going to get. Keep turning down jobs with the recruiters and keep telling them why until you find something you like. |

| I don't know how much more clearly I could have put it where and at what kind of institution I would and would not be interested in working but I still got swamped with offers for anything and everything in Korea, China, Taiwan, and even Kuwait. |

resume boards always attract recuiters...most, if not all, are not worth dealing with.
if a school comes in for you, it will be because u match the kind of teacher they are looking for - they have more direct interest in u and u can get to talk to teachers there directly.
schools ahead of recruiters everytime! |

You can start with some online search, if it does not work, then get a recruiter. Try getting recruiter that focus on recruiting on certain specialise industry. As for "Pay to guaranteed a job position" never try it and don't ever try it. |

The majority of schools will use a recruiter to find a teacher - therefore to find the majority of schools you need to use a recruiter.
Remember where you are coming.... chances are the person doing the hiring won't have good enough English to read a resume or talk to you on the phone (in some cases).
A recruiter is sometimes essential for the school.
On the other hand - all recruiters I have used gave me the run around - but in the end I have always landed a good job. Be open minded and very assertive. |

DON'T 'go with one recruiter'. Go with EVERY recruiter.
Very bad idea.
Choose 1-3 recruiters you feel confortable with and go with them. Spamming all recruiters will only hurt your chances.
There are a few excellent recruiters out there. Pm me if you want more info. |

If you're looking to start in August, it's probably too early right now. Just browse the Korean Jobs board here at Dave's and you'll notice that the jobs are starting in May, maybe June, or maybe ASAP. Finding a job for four months in advance will be difficult, and your options will be limited.
That being said, if a school IS hiring that far in advance, it's probably a good sign. |
