My wife speaks English and Thai. Since I do not speak Thai, she is always speaking in her 2nd language. I would like to find someone who is Thai and lives in Korea.
Are there any Thai clubs or association here in Korea. Is there a p[lace where they meet. Any info would be much appreciated. |

There are quite a few Thais here in Yangsan, between Ulsan and Pusan. Not sure exactly wher to find them most of the time, but... There's a store kitty corner to the stadium. It's called No. 1 Asia mart... or something like that. They sell a lot of Southeast Asian products, including fresh lemon grass, lime leaves, galangan, and celantro... Anyway I would say it would be a good starting point. |

There are a few Thais in Jeju, my wife being one of them. They get together quite often for dinners and stuff. I have heard there are a few more down here, but haven't met them yet.
Move to Jeju, let the Thai community grow, and be happy!! |

Korea has very strick laws against importing foreign rice.
I think Korean rice sells for 5,000 won a kilo and Thai rice can be purchased in the (Thailand) countryside for about 500 won a kilo. |

My wife and I buy long grain rice here all the time at the various Asia Marts or in Itaewon at the Indian grocers. Not cheap tho at around 7000 a kg. Bring on deregulation of the rice industry, I say. |

From what I have heard or read, Korea is in the process of importing foreign rice, and it has to be the same price as domestic rice.
So, when will it be in stores? I keep looking, but I think it is still too soon.
I can tell the difference between Thai and Korean rice. When I come home from work, I can tell by the smell that my wife is cooking Thai rice. It does make Thai food taste better. |
