The recruiter I'm working with told me I need to provide a criminal record check and some kind of official medical certificate. I'm in China. Where and how in the samhell am I supposed to get those without shelling money out on a plane ticket home?
Plus, I'm American-- I've never heard of getting a criminal record check before and I don't know where to start. |

You can always get your medical certificate once you start in Korea.
The CRC....contact your embassy...they would know if anyone would.
You could also contact a family member and ask them to get you one from your local police department. |

Have you already found a position through that recruiter? If it is inconvenient to get them, search for a job after arriving here. There are many jobs that don't require those documents. |

| I just got these two documents. I assume your applying for a post in public school or at an English village. A criminal records check is mandatory (and should be for all hogwans, though it isn't). All you need to do is contact your state police board (they all have websites) and request the check via the internet. In the UK this costs around 15 US dollars and takes 3 or 4 weeks. The medical check is easiest done in Korea: it costs 20,000 won and invloves a chest x-ray, sample of urine, sample of blood, eye test. Takes about 20 minutes. and if you do this in Daegu you even get the nurses phone number! good luck |

| These aren't requirements for your visa; tell your prospective employer you'll work on getting them once you're here and then hope they don't really care about it once you start working. |
