|
|
Well, here's my dilemma. I've been looking for a 3 month english-teaching job since February with no luck. I just found out recently that I could get an f4 visa, which I now have. I did manage to find a summer camp to take me in for one month.
If I arrive 2 months before the camp starts, does anyone think I can find a job for that short amount of time? (Assuming the school lets me use my f4 so I don't have to wait for a c4.) If I don't do the camp, I have 3 months. I don't know if that will make much of a difference.
Any other comments from F4 visa holders or their friends on showing up in Korea without a job pre-arranged would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
-scoob |

How exactly did you get an F-4. Are you sure you don't mean an F-2?
If you have an F class VISA you can work where ever you want when ever you want. Just come over and find a job. Some smuck will hire you for a short term gig. |

*Looks at attachment that came with visa.* Yes, it's an F4 visa. It's the visa you can get if at least one of your parents was formerly a Korean citizen and is now a US citizen.
Pak Yu Man, you think my chances of finding a 2 month job are good? Do you know this from experience, or you know someone who has? |

There is a huge demand for teachers now. I am sure you can get work also. It is cheap to stay in Korea at Seoul backpackers. Check the net.

Ahhh, yes, I've been looking for a 3 month summer position on the web since February. I just went through and counted how many times I sent my resume since then...44 times. I know a few of those must be repeats, so let's just say I've contacted about 40 schools and recruiters. I've only had 4 of them actually consider me...not necesarrily hire, but consider me. And, I've made many-a-phone call. I have a year's worth of teaching experience in South Korea as well. Man, as I type this up here, I'm feeling pretty bad...well, more like pathetic.
I blame part of it because it seems like in all the photos I take, as of late, it's apparent that I'm a half-breed. The reality is that in person, I look like your typical foriegner. I think the other half is just my poor luck. Plus, I just recently found out about the F4 visa. I don't think many, if any, schools hire people short-term on an E2...in fact, they probably can't.
Anyhow, Bellum, I appreciate your comment. If I come early, I'll probably camp out at my aunt's. However, I don't want to put too much burden on my relatives by staying there too long. But, if my luck of finding a job remains as it has been so far, perhaps I better just pick up my one month summer camp and be content with that.
Haha, well, I'm not going to give up yet, though. I need to find out more about my newly found F4 powers! |
