What outstanding cover versions do you know?

Definition of a good cover version is taking someone's song and making it your own.

I really like "Working class hero" by Ozzy Osbourne at the moment (originally by John Lennon of course).

The version available for download is pretty poor quality, but Audioslave's cover of "Seven Nation Army" was probably one of the best covers I've ever heard/seen.

"You Keep Me Hanging On" by Vanilla Fudge (covering the Supremes hit...) Rock critics widely panned them for being exessively something-or-other, but their over-the-top version was "something else" (and had good entertainment value...)

"All I Really Want to Do"/"Mr. Tambourine Man" by The Byrds - excellent covers of Dylan songs (Sonny and Cher also did a very nice cover of "All I Really Want to Do"...)

"All Along the Watchtower" - another Dylan song covered brilliantly by Jimi Hendrix (who also did a great cover of the "Star Spangled Banner"...)

- I'm sure I'll think of a lot more, but I'll post these for now...

As I'm reading this Alice Cooper is playing the cover song part of his radio show, Cooper's Covers.
Right now it's:
Jimi Hendrix -- Wild Thing, at the Monterey Pop festival. (originally recorded by The Wild Ones, not the Troggs, BTW)

"Love Hurts" by Gram Parsons (and Emmy Lou Harris), originally done by the Everly Bros. (also a great version).

Unfortunately, most people know the horrible cover of the song done by a really lame Christian metal band called Nazareth.

I was sitting in the Starbucks near the Sejong center and there was some woman singing an unplugged version of the Buzzcawks (sp but try to spell buzzcocks right without the spell checker... oh dear you can actually say buzzcocks here but not chicken breasts! COCK COCK COCK) "Ever fallen in love with someone?" It was pretty nice.

"Sigmund the Seamonster/Friends" by Tripping Daisy (and Friends is 'like' a 'cover song' of that one by the Beatles)

Man, I really dug those Krofft shows, they were too trippy!

My absolute favorite is Joe Cocker's cover of the Beatles "With a Little Help From My Friends"

Second goes to Lee Hyori's cover of Britney's song Wink
