A friend I went to university with considered teaching in North Korea, and while she eventually decided against it, she did pique my curiosity enough to make me want to learn more.

Now, I have no serious interest in actually pursuing a position as an English teacher there- merely a strong fascination as to what life would be like under what is probably the most oppressive regime currently in existence.

So I googled it, and the above two links are all I could find. Anybody know anything else? Have any stories? I'd be very interested to learn more.

There is a post on here that is the translation of a book written by an EsL teacher who went there from England. He gives a lot of insight to life in the DPRK.

Considering that you'd almost certainly be working for the DPRK government, how do you feel about the Norks' human rights record? Do you actually want to help these people out?

if you work in the United States, how should you feel about that government's human right's record? What about working in South Korea? South Korea doesn't exactly have the shiniest human rights record.

Would you post the link? I'd be interested to read that.

oh sorry...Thailand's is great too right?
I suggest you go back to university, learn how to form an argument, and stop acting like a child. Do you act like this everytime you disagree with someone, are you really that close-minded?

Canada's human rights past is shite too, Canadian society is just good at pretending like past injustices never happened. There isn't a single sovereign nation in this world with a perfect human right's record. Every country is shite...but it's easy to point fingers.

By the way, awesome mock on the Canada bit. Your intelligence really comes through on it. Please.

Fair enough. I failed reading comprehension in middle school.

The question does come up from time to time, and I find it amazing that any sensible, sentient being would go and work with those people.

I believe that Great Wall of Whiner was off to teach in the DPRK but was robbed by a border guard.
