| What are some hot pop songs these days that would be good to teach to 6th graders? Preferably something kinda slow and easy. |

| Thanks for all the suggestions, but I decided to go with "We're Gonna Be Friends" by the White Stripes. Great song to teach for those of you who like teaching songs. Has a lot about school life and things they can relate to and have experienced. My kids really liked it. Great for 6th grade and above I think. |

My Love by Westlife is very popular. Kids just love it.
Lemon Tree is a good one too. |

I'm fast becoming an expert in what songs work and don't in language teaching. Mainly because I'm using karaoke and it works like a charm. Teaches the essential reading skills / phonics but in a fun way...
Yeah, I'll slit my throat if I hear "My love" one more time. But all my kids know it off by heart and even had me make a class karaoke film of images of them, as they are singing....
Other songs that have REALLY worked so far : (and I mean REALLY, most are okay).
Archies -- Sugar , Sugar
That's the way - KC and the Sunshine Band.
Yellow Submarine, Beatles
We are Family - Sister Sledge
Have the kids sing the songs in sections for example , in Sugar, sugar. One group chants, Ah Sugar / the next group, Ah Honey Honey / the next group / You are my candy girl / next group And you got me wanting you..........
