Which country takes income tax out of the pay for ESL teachers? We are from the U.S., but plan to teach in Korea, if this makes a difference. Also, what is the tax rate?
Thanks,
James and Jessica

Korea takes the tax. A lot of contracts state a withholding tax of 3-3.3%. It actually depends on how much your salary is. Make sure that your school does your taxes for you(or do them yourself) as you'll likely be entitled to a refund at the end of the year.

You can check what your monthly 'withholding tax' should be according to the Korean gov't through that link.

"I am British, working in US. When I pay tax, who gets it - the US government or the British government?".
