|
|
Does anyone know if there is a way to get PO boxes here aside from going through a friend in the military? I have seen Mailboxes etc in COEX but I am never able to get in to ask about it. Does anyone know if they offer a box to receive mail from the US? My mailbox is outside and I dont really count on receiving mail correctly. Thanks |

i relied on korean mail for 2 years and had very few, if any, problems. give it a try -- i think you will agree. but it does take a while (3 weeks for a letter?) or something like that. i was amazed at some of the letters that eventually found me from america with completely crazy transliterations of korean places:
mr. kangnam mafioso
Cangnum-kou dang
Souel, North Korea
(no zip code, blah, blah)
i had a bit of soju one night and wanted to test out my new address. i addressed a letter to myself and had no stamps and so taped a korean coin to the envelope! for amusement, i dropped it in one of the postal collection boxes in my hood. unbelievably, it arrived the next day. a postal worker had taken the coin off and attached a stamp. if that isn't a testament to the integrity (and patience) of the korean postal service, i don't know what is.
with that said, if you have bills at home that need to be paid, i would do so online or use DHL next day service. if there is no rush, use the korean mail. i mailed 4 huge boxes of books home for like $50. it took 3 months, but who cares? |

I used to rent a box at the Mail Box Etc. in COEX. I think it was around 12,000W/mo. All you need is your passport. Since I didn't have a credit card, I just paid 1 year's worth up front plus a 10,000W key deposit. The only difference here, compared to the MBE in US, is that you can only check your mail during the store's business hours. |

Me, too. It's a great service. Pay up front for 1 year and get 2 months free.
They also have a security box service. |
