My pc is making my internet slow..

I have two pcs running through my house.,. on E-Topia which is the fastest home based connection in korea.. well they say!!
anyway.. my pc in my second room did a test and it runs at 1.5mbps
my computer in this room runs at 300kbps
so I thought something was messed up.. so I called the serviced guy around, he comes around, just Kt speed tests from their site, checks the wiring, he gets 1.0-1.5 tests from my pc in the other room,
and he gets300 KBPS in this room on this pc..
so he unplugs my internet connection cable and plugs into his notebook
and he gets 1.0-1.5MBPS im LIKE WTF!!
so it cant be the connection can it?

I have done virus scans with all the lastest programs, dont really want to do a reinstall.. unless I really have to..
whats wrong here?
the service guy reckons I have a virus eating up bandwithd but I dont buy it.. eating up 1.0MBPS and leaving me 300KBPS.. JESUS!!

sounds like a trojan to me... just an educated guess tho without investigating your system

have you done an malware/adaware scan?

reformat might be the best option here.

how about this..

so I thought maybe there was something wrong with my pc..
so I unplugged it and took it into the other room where I have another computer and I am getting 2.4MBPS speeds..
and I bring that pc into here...

so what happend you ask..

well the slow pc in the other room on that connection was speeding 1.4-2.4MBPS

and the fast pc in the slow room.. was booting at 2.4MBPS..
as both should be..

so I take my pc back into the slow room and again..
SLOW!!
how can this be when it was getting fast speeds in the other room?
and the other pc was getting fast speeds in both rooms?

this is crazy...

Rather interesting.

Did you solve the problem?

Sounds like a connection problem. And that could be with the a) connectors or b) the way you are sharing the line. If the comps are networked, and your fast PC is the host (or the fast room computer) then there seems to be a bandwidth allocation problem, and more likely you have a problem with the fast machine.

If you have a router to connect to your ISP, then switch the Ethernet cables around. Your signal strength may be be going down. The newer machine may be able to cope, the older one struggles with the distance.

Finally, which I am sure you must have tried... if all was working well until recently, reverse whatever changes you made and see if the problem goes away.
Eitherway, let us know how you fared. Has piqued my curiosity.

cant be the connectors.. becuase
I moved this pc into the other room and brought that pc here and both were fast..
brought that one back here and its slower..
I have a router plugged at the main switch in the wall.. I dont really want to go in there and mess wiht the wiring... but the tech came here and did it.. but stil no magic..
so im thinkin about changing my lan card and see what happens
but I dont know..
I surf the net and download ok..
still I should be on 2.4MBPS and imn only getting 500KBPS but hey!!
