Hi all,

I am working for a public high school near Yongin. It is great and I am finding that I get a LOT more days off than my contract stipulates. I'm not complaning!! However, it seems that I am always the last to know when these days will happen, giving me very little time to plan anything for these days. I know that the school will have a summer holiday and I will probably be working some camp or other during some of it. Does anyone know when the official summer break is for public schools? I only get a week off officially at this time. However, I have heard that there will probably be more 'hidden' time off.

For those working in public schools: How much time off did you actually end up having in summer?

Regards,

Don't feel like you are the only one not getting pertinent information about schedules and schedule changes. Most of us endure the same situation. It's a frustrating reality.

My public high school will be giving final tests late in June, followed by a month of classes (why? why? why?), so we will be ending the term in the third week of July. Summer vacation will be about 1 month long. I am expected to teach summer camp for two weeks during that time. All schools are different, but roughly that is what will be happening to everyone. The fall term will start in late August for most schools.

i have a similar situation, i am sure you get a lot of non-answers as well. often when i ask about dates, i get very general and not precise answers. what i do, wait until after a class gets cancelled or moved, or something like that, then go to them when they maybe feel bad, and ask for exact dates. that is how i get my dates, otherwise i get answers like "maybe early august"
