7 days out of a year???? yikes. It will vary from one school to another. I got about a month my first year, and substantially more this past one, but they made me promise not to leave the country for more than 2 weeks |

At a public school it could be anywhere from 2 weeks to 14 weeks. |

Last year I had 11 weeks. I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to leave the country more than 2 weeks but I did and nobody cared. Supposedly all teachers -- Koreans included -- are supposed to fill out paperwork explaining how they will do some work or professional development during vacations. I was allegedly signed up for something at the local library, which I never attended because nobody gave me the information. |

Yes exactly!
if you are getting more it's probably because your principal is hoping noone will notice. In Gyeonggi Do they are being really snotty about this vacation leave. |

I'm getting two this summer and 4 in the winter. The other 4 weeks in the winter and 2 in the summer are supposed to be camp weeks. I'm still waiting to see if they can actually come up with something.
My contract states two weeks, but I made my pricipal hand write 2 for the summer and 4 for the winter or I wasn't going to sign. |

Public schools get 26 weeks vacation a year. And when teachers are working, everyday is like a holiday because they love Korea so much. |
