|
|
On Friday night I was having a drink with another high school teacher I know. He says 'this new teacher at my school, Mr Kim, has worn the same blue pin-stripe suit every single fucking day since he started work'.
I replied 'well you know, this new teacher at my school, Mr Kim, has worn the same blue pin-stripe suit every single fucking day since he school work'.
The only exceptions have been sports day and school picnic day. I can't imagine how many jokes these guys would be the butt of back home. I'm wondering, as it warms up, how much longer they're going to last. As of tomorrow it will be two months for both of them wearing the same suit every school day.
What's the longest you've seen? Ever know of a teacher to go a whole term or year in the same suit? |

I worked in Taiwan for 9 months. One guy wore the same white shirt with red and blue pin stripes every single day the whole time. Maybe pin stripe things don't get dirty in Asia. |

I own 7 identical white shirts, and a washing machine. I also own some identical slacks. Just a thought. |

I used to work with this guy who wore the same waistcoat and suit pants for months on end. I could tell because the waistcoat had a smudge of cigarette ash on it. The students loved him, though (adult hagwon). Long hair and fingernails, tangled beard, oh my! Must have fit the dirty foreigner stereotype so deliciously |

I always put 'every day'.
Is 'everyday' actually ok? That is, can it be one word? I've never thought so but seeing it so often here has got me wondering. |

Commonplace; ordinary: everyday worries.

The ordinary or routine day or occasion: It was not an isolated, violent episode. It had become part of the everyday (Sherry Turkle). |
So, yes, it's a word. And, yes, the OP is a fucking idiot.
Just kidding.
But if I see one more person write pronounciation, I'm going to fucking lose my shit. |

I was taught everyday as one word.
To OP and others: my husband sometimes buys 2 or 3 of the same shirt or trousers because he likes it/them so much. It's a bit bizarre that he'd want several of the same thing in exactly the same style and colour but he says that he buys them for later, cos you can't always find something you really like...
I just buy the same style but in different colours! |

"Everyday" is an adjective. "Every day" works as an adverb. There is a difference.
I dress boringly. My kids comment on it. A cheer went up this week when I showed up in a new jacket. |

Wow. Please tell me that was an original brainchild and not something that has been said many times before. Talk about . |

Yes, 'every day' should indeed be two words here, unless it was used as an adjective as in 'everday attire'. |

So now it's an everyday occurence. Part of the everyday, as it were. |
