The wife and I just received our school's closing dates during winter 2006 vacation (yeahhh!!! one month off instead of 2 weeks!!). Anyhow, I went shopping for airline tickets online. Found United Airlines Round-trip tickets from Incheon (ICN) to Fort Lauderdale, Florida (FLL) for $1,734USD per person (including taxes, etc.). Not bad of a price considering:

A) - we got a half-a-year reservation
B) - fuel prices going through the roof
C) - christmas, very expensive time.

I went directly through United. Usually, you go through a travel agent here in Korea and you have their "extra fees" and all of that jive. Just wanted to let you guys know that purchasing tickets directly through the airlines may save you some cash. There were only (according to the website) 9 spots left for that plane. FYI, The same flight was priced as follows:

Delta - n/a
Korean Air and Delta (skyteam) - $2,100USD per person
Oribits - $2,300USD per person

Good luck all and get them tickets reserved!!!! Cool

generally, it's a lot cheaper to buy through a travel agent. a lot of those seats that were supposedly taken have been bought up by discount agencies that will sell them for around $1,000 rt

Yeah....ok.....find me a travel agent that sells a round trip ticket from ICN to FLL for $1,000 during Christmas and I'll give you $100. You idiot. Rolling Eyes Stop talking about s@!# you have no clue about.

I have to tell you, I love it when people come on these boards and say, "oh I can find it for $X." Please. Are you looking for a pat on the back? Did you want a cookie?

Go figure that anytime one wants to share possible use information an ass (donkey Cool ) comes on here and says stupid crap yet provides no links, phone numbers, or references to support their claims.

you got about the best price going. Last year it cost my school Very Happy $1300 cdn just to fly me to Vancouver one way at Christmas time. That's only a 9 hour flight. FLL is going to be like 20 hours of flying time.

I agree its a good price..
but if you wanted to get it cheaper you can...
but as you probably already know.. it will not be direct..

you could fly INCH,TOKYO, FLL.. on JAL airlines would be cheaper
or fly singapore air or cathy pacifc, thai but it means stop overs
but IT will cost you like 900-1200 a ticket..
direct flights are ALways WAY more expensive..
and a 2 day stop over in one of those airline countries is always fun too

To be honest that price is not that good...I can't see what you are boasting about. You probably actually overpaid for that ticket..

I understand that you want to have certainty and security for a ticket home at that time and good for you but i would not pay that...

2 years ago I went home for 2 days before Christmas to Australia(12 hour flight) and i paid only 670 000 return and last year would have paid about 750 000...

yes, i took a risk and waited for a spare seat but the price you paid is nothing special, as a matter of fact i can't even understand why you are on here boasting about it at all...

Austalia is not a 21 hour flight, hence why it is cheaper. 2nd of all, I am not boasting; merely providing some information for those that travel long distances.

Also, I do not like to wait until the last second to do things; I like to plan. Considering I am flying to The United States and considering the price of oil, this is a pretty good deal.

As I implied before, I really don't care what you guys get for your tickets. Most of you come on here and say, "I got it for this, I got it for that" yet the distances aren't nearly as close as the distance I have to travel. Amazing that someone would compare prices from ICN to Aust. against ICN to FLL. You have to REALLY be out of your mind to think those flights are even remotely close to being comparable. LOL Laughing

If you are going to say, "your price is stupid.....mine is better", show me the link. Stop talking crap and show us the link so that we can use the infromation. Other than that, what you are saying is mere conjecture. Show me the Christmas flying times and a link to a site. Otherwise, go play somewhere else where you may...or may not....be wanted...
