Tomorrow I need to help a friend with adjusting to the Mac OS after using Windows.
I know he's having trouble with resizing windows.
I haven't really used a mac since System 7 in the early 90s.
I'm pretty sure his difficulties are pretty simple to fix, but I'm wondering if anyone can help explain what would throw off a Windows-user in terms of basic functions for a mac.
For example: Another friend had a hard time with firefox on first use because of the tabbing. He was closing them all instead of just one.
In other words, basic stuff.
I'll see the comp tomorrow. Just wanted to pick some brains.
Thanks in advance,

OK, so here's the deal.
MS Office auto-launches when he starts his computer.
I monkeyed with it for about an hour and couldn't find the right setting to change. Not sure if I should be looking in MS or OSX.
Anybody know how to turn that off?
And thx for the PM help offers.
Much appreciated.

i dunno why office would launch on startup...but to disable it:
open System Preferences
click on Accounts
if there is more than one user account, select the appropriate one for the user
there should be a tab called something like 'Startup Items' or something like that.
if office is launching on startup, it'll be in that list. just remove it.

Another way to disable the start-up option is in the dock. If he has the icon in the dock, control-click the icon and you'll get a little menu. Just click the option that says Start at Login to uncheck it. It's a very handy short cut.
I don't use Firefox but in Safari, to resize windows it's pretty similar to Windows. You just click on the bottom right corner and drag. Same thing on the system windows. I also haven't messed with tabbed browsing, but I should. It seems like a useful function.
And, along with the other's who've PM'd you, I'd be happy to help with any other questions. Always glad to lend a hand.
