Should there be monthly debates that could be webcast live off of the internet?
I have noticed that certain issues can become quite contentious and it might be better suited if it were moderated with certain rules and in a live situation. If they were broadcast through webcast live than there could be a greater continuity to the topic. Posting on threads has its advantages, but it also has its disadvantages. Anyone can jump in and cause the thread to go off course from the OP's original thought, trolls can try to derail the momentum of a thread, people can be shouted or intimidated by the loudest person.
It doesnt have to be on Daves. It could be on someones website or whoever is open to the idea. But if Dave chose to hold such events, then I believe he would win because if the events had the right elements, than it could attract a big audience. Especially if there is a range of topics that Koreans would find interesting and if the speakers had credibility.
There is also the element of teaching students how to debate.
Topics could range from Teacher's Rights to the best bar in Seoul. |
