What qualifications would i need to teach English Lit. at University in Korea? I have my first degree in Literature, a CELTA cert. and am planning on going back to the UK to do a Masters in Literature next October.

Does anyone have any experience teaching Literature over here? If you could let me know your thoughts, it would be really nice ^_^

There are not many jobs for foreigners teaching purely literature here. I've seen only a handful advertised - some require MAs and PhDs, others will accept just a BA. You need to be on the lookout. Otherwise, just apply to universities prospectively.

Overall, I know that most literature depts have Korean professors teaching in them. I guess the texts are analyzed in Korean.

You also have to take into account that an average Korean student level is not very high, so teaching literature in any depth here can be quite hard-going on the teacher. I've met many Korean students studying Engl lit but who can barely converse in spoken English, for example - explains the preference for Korean professors to teach this subject.

Also, keep in mind that Korea is not the only place for literature based teaching ops.

If you want to teach literature, your best bet is probably a foreign language high school. You could teach something like AP English Literature and the like. The kids will be far more advanced at the high school level than the students you would get in an English lit course at a Korean university.
