Hiya,

I doubt anyone can help on this one but it's worth a try:

Anyone know if the Adult Hagwon called LanguageWill (next to the glass tower in Samsung) is still open?

I worked there a year ago, but it seems all the email addresses are dead (although they still have a website).

Hmmm... looks like I'm gonna need to find a different job upon my return - anyone know of any high pay/low effort adult jobs? Laughing

Their sign is still on the building. I walked past there this weekend, and I seem to recall seeing their ads on the net for other jobs.

Did you work for LanguageWill before; if so would you recommend them as an employer? Do you know of any other good schools in Korea, preferably teaching adults? Very Happy Cool Laughing

Found this blog, dated October 2005, any comments?

"It all started when I had my interview with the CEO of LanguageWill - the company that I've been pursuing since back in May. BTW, this was not the same guy that I interviewed with via telephone from back in the States. Nope, that guy abruptly left the company. (What the?) Anyway, I was told that in order to get a week off in June to return to the States for my sister's wedding I'd have to find a teacher to cover my shifts and pay him/her. (What the?) Then he said he'd only pay for half the cost of the Visa-run to Japan. (What the?) Then he said that he'd gladly put me on staff part time if I already had my E-2 Visa and worked full time elsewhere. (What the?) So I have nothing more to say about teaching English in Korea ... For now."

Same blogger, dated June 2005:

"So I had the telephone interview with Mr. Kim on Thursday. It went excellently! He sounds like a reasonable guy; easy to talk to and work for. He's obviously a hard worker (i.e. he was calling me from work; 10pm his time, 9am my time) and I'm sure he expects the same from his employees. But I've cleared it up front that weekends are mine - I intend to get to know Korea and explore and he said he could give me a guide. Anyway, during the interview he told me that he lived in US for 10 years (studying and working), has a cousin in Baltimore and has visited Virginia and liked it very much. Cool! Anyway, he said, "Given your professional background and IT experience, you'll be the best teacher". So I guess I don't have to prove myself ... just live up to his expectation of being the best! Nah, it took me 7 L-O-N-G years to figure out that living up to other's expectation is just too damn hard and draining. It's far more rewarding to live up to my own expectations. I'll work hard and fast so that I can have my off-the-clock fun. The way I see it, we will both be winners in the end."

Cathy OB - Did you work for LanguageWill before?

Yes, a year from 04-05. They're okay - better than some of the holes my friends worked at. As I'm going back to korea come August I wanna set up a job in advance (better the devil you know and all that)

Found this blog...

Do you know this girl? I found her blog by googling the info you provided.

Thanks.

dodgy

No, I don't know the girl whose blog I found. I am looking for a decent job and a decent employer, and I found her by googling LanguageWill. Any comments or info you could provide on how the school is run these days would be appreciated.
Cheers, Cathy
