Those who have been long term residents of korea who have "added to the korean national fabric in some beneficial way"
What do they mean by "long term residents?" |

It means someone who has a darn good reason why they need it, and why Korea should give it. Basically that visa is for married people not unmarried people. If you have an E2 visa and are unmarried it may be difficult to get it ( I heard it is possible after 7 years or so, but I don't know anyone who got it). |

Bellum you should be a little clearer. It's for poeple who are married to a Korean not just any married couple. |

I got one by marrying a Korean. It is pretty, good but I wouldn't marry a Korean just to get one.
I've heard that if you're here long enough on an e2 you can apply, you may not get one. If you're here long enough the best thing would be to save as much money as possible and then invest in a business and get a D8. |

I think you are mistaken. If you are here long enough you can apply for an F5 which is a permanent residency visa. You don't need to renew it but there is a bit more paperwork involved too. They are also pretty strict on the 30 million won in the bank thing too, whereas they are pretty lax when trying to get the F2-1. I have an F2-1 and was thinking about getting the F5 but basically they're near identical, except you have to get the F2-1 renewed. |

AND you never lose your F5. Not even if you get a divorce. |

yes. When hell freezes over. UNLESS you are married to a Korean national or have TONS of cash to invest, it 99.9999999% wont happen. |

I've been reading your posts for the last few months. Why the arrogance? It seems everytime you write your primary goal is to insure everyone knows how good your situation is.
I also have the same visa as you. The reason I have it is simply a by-product of who I married. When I write I try to keep in mind that my situation is due to luck and not something which is special about me.
I think people would be alot more receptive to your opinion if you didn't brag as much as you do |

Um, its not arrogance. Its reality. read the immigration requirements for an F5. You get it either by: being on an F2 visa for 2-3 years which will require you to be married, OR, you get it by having a lot of money to invest. Thats it. i didnt make the rules. So how am I being arrogant? If he is not married and doesnt have hundreds of thousands of dollars (or millions, not sure which) to invest in Korea, then he wont get an F5 visa or an F2. There really arent any cases of people getting an F visa based on being here for a long time on an E2. if there were, you would have heard of it as there are plenty of people on this board who should meet that requrement. Do you think they choose to stay an an E2 because they are lazy? Um, think. Im giving him a realistic assesment of his chances. Its better that way, I find that crazy dreams dont really do much for people. If you want to attack me, perhaps get yourself acquainted with some facts. |

My reply was a general comment on all your postings. It just happened that I choose this thread to write a comment. My attack on your style of writing is global. Pretty well everytime you write something you come across as arrogant. You like to poast and I think you have a lot to say; much I agree with. The style in which you give your comments however detracts from thier general message.
This is not is not an attack but rather a criticism. |
