Need some help - I have a Samsung (KTF) sliding phone - not sure exact model - but it is very popular around town - I see many people with the same phone...
I finally bought a Samsung EVER 데이터케이블 KDC-U3000 (USB-cable) for 10,000 won that plugs into the phone - to allow me to download the pics/videos I have taken on the phone onto my computer (through the USB -plug-thingy)
anyway - whenever I plug it into the computer - it states - Samsung CDMA technology and then tries to instal (find) the appropriate software on my computer - or Windows XP files - which apparently I don't have - and ddidn't come with the purchase of the cable or phone....
has anyone had this similar problem - and what do I do - in order to download my pics from the cellphone to the computer using this USB-cable??
Is there a website that I can download the required software from etc?
thanks

You'll have to d/l a pc-sync manager program or sth similar. Take your battery out and check on the model number, which you'll most likely find under the battery. You'll have to search for it either on the Samsung site or the KTF one, assuming you have your acct with KTF.
If you go here...
http://www.anycall.com/support/down/support_down.jsp?modelName=SPH-E3200&orderBy=on&l_nm=KTF&pfid=SPH-E3200&p_pfid=&p_l_nm=
...you'll find a drop-down selection of phone models for KTF, LGT and SKT. Find yours, d/l, and install.
Let me know if that works. If not, let me know the model number and I'll try sth else. |

Ok - thanks for the great leads,
its probably surprising to you - but Yes - I bought the phone here in Korea - I think in November 2004 - but there were no cables or software that came with the phone for downloading the pics...
I have been to the sites and the picture of the cable on the first site - is exactle the SAME cable that I have (Samsung CDMA ....) - but when I download the driver - it downloads as a WINRar file - and when I "extract here" it has a choice of 2 programs - (1) is a program that is all in Korean (Hangu-mul) and it shows that flashlight-things searching for something and gives me 87 seconds to find whatever it is searching for - but my PC obviously doesn't have because it never find it - the second (2) program is a Windows XP driver remover program - which I clicked on and it erased my E: drive and USB: drives - luckily - it was easy to put them back....
maybe I am just useless at this kind of thing - but I am not angry - you have provided a lot of good detective work and great info - I guess I just don't know the basics o how to use it properly.... |

What is surprising is that you didn't get what is necessary for you to use the full capabilities of your phone. Wait, no, that's not surprising as it took me close to a year to get my bloody phone/cam/mp3 piece of LG garbage to work correctly. Of course I had to get software from a site different than LG to get the stupid thing working. All that I wanted to do was drop and drag my own music into the phone so I could listen to it...too much to ask? Yes, when LG Telecom has no licensing agreement it is. Half of the time the drivers wouldn't install correctly. Anyway.

I'm a little confused here. When I unpacked the first, I got 11 files, including the uninstaller you mentioned. I'm not sure what steps you're going through. Does XP try to do a search for drivers when you insert the cable? Do you tell it to search in the folder "Win 98 Me 2k XP"? If so, it should find the appropriate driver.
What I recommend is remove the cable and insert it again. When you're prompted for a driver search, select the "Win 98 Me 2k XP" folder.
p.s. Sorry that it uninstalled stuff that you didn't want uninstalled. |

Cripes! (<---directed toward me for my stupidity)
This might be more helpful as you need other software, not just the drivers in order to access your photos and whatnot:
http://isohunt.com/torrents.php?ihq=datapilot&ext=&op=and
Or, you can buy it legally here:
http://www.susteen.com/shop/samD415.htm
I downloaded it and went to install it and got the message to remove all devices from USB ports before proceeding further...we now know they're serious about that...so, make sure you remove all things you have connected if you go this route, okay? Hope it works for you. |
