Are memory cards for digital cameras specific to a camera, or can they be used for different cameras?
Like, can the memory card i have for my panasonic lumix be taken out and used in a...i dont know, a kodak easyshare?
And on that note (and I will also do a search, but might as well kill 2 birds with one stone) can anyone recommend a good (yet cheap) small digital camera? |

Most cameras use compact flash cards, SD cards which are both generic and can also be used with PDAs and other devices or their own card which can only be used in their cameras. Check it out before you buy a camera. SD seems to be becoming the standard.
As far as a recomendation goes-this site is great for reviews, pricing, recommendations etc

Yeah avoid XD cards. I think its proprietary so it's more expensive and not supported as widely. For example on buy.com 1 gb sd card is $40. A 1 gb xd card is $50.
SD is an open standard, there's more than one source for SD cards, and you can find a lot of hardware that supports SD cards. For example, my laptop has a little SD card reader. You could pop out your camera's card and slip it into the card reader. |
