Might as well get the ball rolling on this. How about reviving the long-lost ESLCafe gathering? Ideas, recommendations, good dates for doing it...let's see who'd be into it. |

I'm coming to Seoul for the first time in a week. I'm up for meeting new people, but I don't know where anything is. If people are meeting somewhere I might stop by. |

The childrens' Day weekend might get more out of towners... thought the seoul people might be heading out of town.
The next weekend (may 15) is also a three day weekend for a lot of people. |

What about something different? Why always go to Itaewon, eat western food, sit in western bars...
Make it in Namyangju somewhere....or one of those student getaway places. Kapyong is great...outdoor BBQ areas, boating, riverside fireworks, fresh air, hiking in the day...
Easy to find as well. There are areas right near the train station.
I realize many don't have cars and just don't want to / can't take the train, but for those who do, it would be a nice alternative.
A daytime meeting would be cool. Not getting hammered, but hiking, BBQ, boating, sports...
I guess it's just easier for all to meet in Seoul, but many, myself included, just don't have the time or energy to travel 2 hours one way for a couple of drinks.
Perhaps it should be a separate thing? Have a Seoul-people get-together, and a "outdoor" deal for others? |

I'd be up for a nice park/outdoorsy type thing. I might be up in Seoul over the Children's Day weekend anyway.... |

i've found that the gatherings you don't need to get hammered and theings don't tend to get going until later. Gotta keep things reasonably central as there are people living all over.
Anyway I still think tradition dictates somewhere in shinchon/hongdae... but there's nothing to stop a daytime event like the ladies lunches we used to do too. |

let's f*cking do it. I say no frills. just do it in the middle of seoul, on a normal weekend (like, say, May 6th) in a big bar/restaurant. |

I could have been considered interested in some kind of gathering, but this:

...well, that just ain't gonna do it for me!
Seriously, though, like billy said - keep it simple, somewhere in Seoul, central, somewhere everyone can find easily.

That sounds good. How about O'kims in COEX? It's a big, big restaurant bar. The beer isn't too bad. |

We had a gathering in Rock Bar in Shinchon a couple of years ago that worked out really well. The place is usually empty, and they have a good music collection that you can make requests from. |

I'm interested.
Not bothered where, although maybe Demophobe had a point about leaving out Itaewon. Then again, as long as we don't end up in Seoul Pub I don't mind. That place has been more like a mental hospital than a bar the last two times I've been in. Lucky Strike is a good joint and never busy at all - if the gathering ends up going on until quite late, that'd be a good option if you ask me.
See you where ever! |

I suggest you hold it at the lunatic asylum that rapier and fiveeagles post from. So nice to include the mentally ill. |

I'm in.
I think the bonus to Itaewon is the location and how ridiculously easy it is navigate, but at the same time I'd be happy to meet in a whole gang of locations. |
