Just wondering what the average cost of a monthly bill would be for a studio apartment.
Also, if anyone can offer advice for the with and without underfloor heating then it'd be appreciated.
Thanks!!! |

There are so many variables your question is almost impossible to answer. If posters chime in with personal experiences you'll hear everything from peanuts to through the roof.
Some places have high management fees, others hardly any. These may or may not include heating fuel, & some places average fuel costs among all the tenants (frustratrating to conservative users).
Unless there was a school employee in the place before you, I wonder how one would go about determining what previous bills looked like in a particular apartment before moving in?
In any case, be it $20 ir $200 a month, its a hell of a lot cheaper than supporting your own housing in your home country.
Ondol is great. Nice heat & efficient. |

If you have an old valve for your floor heating... be very, very careful the first month. oh.. if you get a white sticker on your door, it's probably the guy coming to check your meter - you can write it on the board yourself - outside of your door. I got nailed with a 500k bill because i threw that thing out. |

I ask because I did get the previous teachers bill and it was 76,000W for 02/09 - 03/08.
Now, I'm hardly in my apartment, and if I am I'm not cooking. Only thing I'll actually use the gas for is heating water, then I'll turn it off. I was wondering whether the bill was so extreme (IMO) because she'd been working the underfloor heating and cooking like it was going out of fashion. Some Korean chick I showed it to appeared quite shocked at that price for one months usage. |

I pay loads... but that's due to my shockingly high management fee! |

We pay loads, too, but only in the winter when the gas heating floor (ondol) is on.
In the summer we pay very little. |

Lets see... bill was for usage from Feb9 till Mar8... Feb was COLD in most parts of the country.... If she had a typical 10-12 pyong villa... that would be reasonable... Mine was often in that range during the winter months.
My summer GAS bill was often in the range of 10k won. I do like to cook at home. Now that I am in a officetel and only use gas for cooking my monthly gas bill is in the neighborhood of 3-5k per month.
My highest gas bill in the villa was around 100 k back in the winter of 2002. |
