More public servants violate election laws
A total of 134 public servants have been booked for illegal campaigning ahead of May 31 local polls to elect mayors, provincial governors and county chiefs, prosecution officials said yesterday. That's more than quadruple the figure compared to the same period in the last local elections four years ago.

The prosecution said the increase in rampant irregularity is the result of incompetence among personnel officers at the local government level where chronic cronyism based on regional and school ties remains unchanged. Overall, the number of election violations is growing rapidly ahead of the May 31 polls.
