I'd like to get some info about getting a job in Korea. I read that korean language schools don't like hiring older people. I'm 49 and will be done teaching in Africa next year. I'd like to teach in Asia, preferably Korea. Do people my age and gender--male--have a hard time finding work. I'd like to work with adults/college age students.

do you have a masters degree in english, tesol, education or a related field? if so, you shouldn't have a problem. there were several teachers in their forties at the uni i taught at.
if you just have a 4-year degree and you want to teach adults at an instititute, it's still quite possible, but it might be difficult. |

It may take you a bit longer to find something, but the places that turn you down for ageist reasons are places you don't want to work for anyway.
You'll be OK. |

You can find work as long as you have a B.A.
It might take longer for you vs a new grad but you can find good jobs. |

I've known a few people 5 - 15 years older than you who had good jobs, so it is not impossible. Public schools will probably be much more open to you. good luck! |
