Are you looking as sales or marketing? Unlike many companies who call them the same thing.. they are NOT. Do you want a marketing text, sales text book or an English text with a focus on business / sales English?
IF they are at a low to moderate level then the texts you have been using for business are probably just fine. |

I agree with ttompatz - sales and marketing are not quite the same thing..
As a person with 2 business degrees (BA and MSc) majoring in Marketing, I'd be insulted by anyone who thought or suggested that I was in sales!
I am a little unsure of your exact need. Are you looking for a book in marketing or sales to teach? If so, I think you are slightly wasting your time because they are all very technical.
You can probably look online for some marketing jargons and slangs.
I've come across this: http://www.billfryer.com/glossary/
Seems interesting and quite comprehensive. |

ROTFLMAO Well as an MBA who has an undergrad degree in Hon Biz BA with a marketing concentration and then went into sales after 12 years of working in marketing I can tell you that I made a a lot more money in sales than I ever did in marketing and I mean A LOT MORE!! Insult me all you want, I'll take a sales job over a marketing job any day. |

poker player : i agree with you. I don't have a degree in sales or marketing, but my previous job back home paid a lot. And there are a lot of perks if you have a good sales job.. i.e. territory manager, district manager. The company i worked for allowed me to work from home. It was great, because i only had to make a trip into the office about once or twice a month.
Getting back to the main reason why i posted this msg.. Yes sales and marketing are two different things.. although they are very closely related. Most sales jobs require a certain amount of marketing experience or at least mine did..
I have a mix of people from marketing to sales.. so i guess um not sure which book to go with.. but the one from Longman Marketing looks good. I think i'll just get two books and take parts from each to make everyone happy..
Thanks all.. |
