This will either mean something or nothing to you.

I unexpectedly stumbled across Matthew Barney's 'Cremaster 3' playing on a plasma screen in the Leeum gallery (all 3 hours of it). It's by no means the best setup for watching it, in fact it is terribly designed and makes the 3 hours a lot more difficult but, considering how hard it is to get the opportunity to see this film it is a lot better than nothing.

It's playing in the Permanent exhibition section which costs 10,000 to get into and you have to make a reservation. If you want to see the film in it's entirety I recommend getting there earlier in the day as it is playing on a loop and the last 3 hour cycle of it is unfortunately cut short due to closing time.

Apparently the planned release of the DVD set has been cancelled so if like me you've been waiting to see this film for a while you may want to check it out?

Overall I thought it was quite good.

I just downloaded the whole series from, I think, Piratebay.org.

I know it will not be as good as on a good screen, but now I have it, and who knows, some day I may have a good way of screening it.

I have waited a long time to see this series.

Have you seen that he has a new movie out with Bjork, who is his partner?

Yeah I heard about them making a movie a while ago, I didn't know it had been released yet though. I just did a quick search and found a few articles about it....'Drawing Restraint 9' it's called, apparently a bit more conventional than the Cremaster series....looks interesting.

New York Times article about said movie.

Drawing Restraint screened at Leeum late last year - and was amazing.

I was completely unaware of Matthew Barney before I saw this and enjoyed it immensely.

I'll be making the effort to see one of the Cremaster films on a biggish(?) screen. The Pirate Bay copies aren't the best.

hmm....the screen it's screening on at Leeum is "biggish" relative to most TV's but small in comparison to a projection screen or something like that. It's a size that you would be more than happy with in your living room but by no means is it large enough to provide a full cinematic experience.

Size aint necessarily everything though right?

I got a Cremaster baseball cap at the Guggenheim 3 years ago. It was like 50% off.
