The Beatles/Rolling Stones post got me to thinking (always a dangerous thing): which current band is more consistent, both talentwise and qualitywise over multiple albums?

Is this joke supposed to be a parody, meant to demonstrate the incomparability of two great but vastly different bands?

If so, well done.

If not, Radiohead.

Tib, I don't care about your reasoning or motivation for starting this thread, the answer is SO obvious it hurts.

Radiohead is the way forward. (Of all the well-known bands in the world, that is: I can't see anyone starting a Neutral Milk Hotel vs. The Arcade Fire thread.)

But, because of the asinine responses this thread and little Tommy are going to suffer because of YOU, I vote--"No living children for Grandma and Grandpa Sparkles", you blunted and broken off nob.

Note:

If you want to get the Brits riled up though, try a Bruce Springsteen vs. Paul Weller thread. Based on their working-class backgrounds, politics and musical development, I once suggested that a meeting of the minds acoustic concert between the two giants would be the REAL show of the century: my Brit friends around the table immediately lost their nuggets. How dare you flotsam?[I have never given a British person my true identity--Mr. F]. Uri-Paul??? Talk about a town called malice, jeesh.

Musical styles aside, both groups are similar in that they are the most consistent bands still making music today. If there's another band(s) that's been around for 10+ years and still making quality pop music, I'm all ears.

jaganath69: Did I offend you somewhere? Seriously dude, what gives? Are you bitter about your circle jerk/drunk tank falling to pieces and simply lashing out at the first person who (*snicker*) gets in your way on the Internet?

U2. Been round much longer than either the peppers or radiohead. And by their 10 year mark they were far superior to either of the bands mentioned by the OP. Even now they are still better.

Wow. Jinju. Wow.

Stick to photos man.

U2's music hasn't been anywhere near as innovative or interesting as R-head's. Seriously, have you listened to enough Radiohead to make a statement like that? U2 went from being an anthemy Irish pop band to being an anthemy we-think-we're-American-and-Bono-may-as-well-be-black-cause-he's-Aiiirisch pop band to being a we're-not-Irish-any-more-Ireland-is-too-parochial-an-image-(says our manager)-for-us-so-we're-European-now anthemy pop band to being a we've-been-around-long-enough-to-get-everyone-believing-we-are-a-classic-anthemy-rock-band-with-80s-cred-and-now-we're-going-to-charge-American-kids-1/3-our-age-whatever-the hell-we-want-for-our-concerts, anthemy pop band.

Testing. Testing. Can you hear this ( ) J? Is this on?

P.S. On this crucial social issue Vote Line 3 for a Better World and the Children, your children, who will live. Think about that while standing at the polls.

Is this like, trying to step back and be objective, ie, with your imaginary rolling stone rock critics hat on, or just what you happen to like, cause they can be different...
