Hi everyone
I am leaving for the states in 2 and half months. Prior to coming here I had a pre-existing stomach problem that was treated and cured within three weeks of my contract in Korea. The medication here is different regardless of what they say.
I was told by my doctor that two of my prescriptions would not be available in the states. He has apparantly studied and practiced at two U.S. hospitals.
I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to get foreign meds through customs? I understand why we have regulations regarding this kind of thing but the stuff I'm taking over here is the ONLY thing that has ever worked!
Does anyone have any opinions/ideas on this? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated! |

I go back to the USA once per year. I have always brought korean meds back home. I never had a problem. They have always been in my luggage.
My doctor here gives me sleeping pills. I keep them in my back pack. I never have had a problem with them either. |

That's a good point... I'm glad you mentioned the sleeping pills because I was thinking about asking for some for my flight home.
Do you find that they work?
I have a terrible time on flights with motion sickness and then I get home and end up sick and jetlagged for days and sometimes weeks because of lack of sleep.
As for the other meds I have now... I will try to hide them in my luggage but if they do a random search, I could be in trouble...
I want to declare them and be allowed to bring them into the country. |

I LOVE to fly, so I do not take sleeping pills unless I have to. I never suffer from jetlag............never. I have insomnia, and flyng is the same for me as staying home. I bring a book and read, or watch what ever movie they have on. The only time I ever sit and watch movies is when I fly. Even with sleeping pills I sleep for 3 hours. But if I take 2 of them I will sleep.
I also (hate to admit this one) have taken 4 tylenol pm and have gotten to sleep. I am not a pill junkie, I just have trouble sleeping.
I know they do random checks, but I always have a copy of the perscription from the dr. I xerox it before I bring it to the pharmacy, and put that copy in a bag with my pills.
I take a muscle relaxent, and these are the pills I keep in my suitcase. Plus 2 of them in the same vial as my sleeping pills. As I said, never had a problem.
If you are worried, how about having your dr write a note, and stamp it with his seal? |

Tylenol PM = Acetaminophen 500 mg + Diphenhydramine HCl (=Benadryl)
25 mg
What's to admit to? 4,000 mg of acetaminophen is usually seen as the maximum daily dose. I wouldn't mix it with alcohol, though. |
