Was thinking of doing some internet shopping eg. books, dvds, toys, clothes, etc.
Anyone been charged customs clearance duties / taxes? |

I have always been charged steep duty fees when I order over $100 worth of items in one shipment. I have heard that sometimes packages can slip through, but it has never happened to me. The way I get around these fees now is to have items shipped to my sister-in-law. She packages everything into one box and markets the box as gifts. I send her the shipping cost and about a week later I happily receive my items. |

I've been ordering clothes and stuff (my boobs are not fitting into these tiny Korean shirts) for quite a while from home and never got charged anything until recently. I had to pay like 40,000 won last week on an order of like $135. Apparently, if you order stuff under $100 (U.S. I don't know about elsewhere) there's no duty. So I guess if you wanna order more you should place separate orders. Smart of you to ask so you don't get smacked with a 30% duty. |
