|
|
Tried to search this topic but didn't have any luck. I know there was a post recently but I don't think there was too much detail on the process.
Do Korean banks check out your banking/credit situation in your home country?
(I had just moved to another location in Canada and haven't had my current bank account very long)
How long does the process take? Any advice to speed it up.....
Any potential problems.
Do they put holds on deposits?
I am considering a public school position and trying to think of some of the logistics involved in getting set up in Korea.
Thanks! |

as far as setting up bank accounts go its relatively simple, you need your passport and ARC, you just fill up a form. It took me about half an hour, maybe a little longer, cant remember exactly, and I had my account. They gove you your card there and then and you can take your money out straight away, almost the minute you lodge it. My account is with KB. There are different types of cards, some can't be used abroad, some can but others can tell you more about that than I can |

all you need is your passport. Walk into any bank and open an account. It goes smoother if you have a Korean with you(in case the bank doesnt have any English speaking staff) |

I think the only reason you would need a credit check is if you are looking for credit. And that's not something Korean banks like to give foreigners.
So I don't think it will be a problem to open a regular bank account. |
