If you've notice Cruise's film career as of late, he seems to promote some kind of love affair with the Land of the Morning Calm.

If you've watched his last two movies, War of the Worlds and MI:3, you'll see references to Korea:

1. War of Worlds: In the beginning scenes, mentions that they have load of containers coming from Korea.

2. Stating some kind of technology that the Koreans invented and the other is the blatent attempt at advertising DHL delivery service.

Also, lately, Cruise inked a multi-million dollar deal helping SK sell their services in the States.

Did the MI:3 cast come through Korea to promote MI:3's opening?

Anyway, maybe I'm dreaming. There must be some kind of pattern here.Wink

I dont know about the SK deal, but think about it for a moment, Cruise doesn't write his own dialogue in his films, those are not his sentiments...

Wesley Snipes and Nicolas Cage love Korea or at least Korean women. They each married Korean women.

I think Cruise loves Japan. After all, he's The Last Samurai. Cool

I think it's the same idea as signing a Korean player to a major league team. Guarantees 48 million additional fans. That kind of exposure can't hurt shirt sales or the box office for that matter.

There are cults abounding? Shocked I didn't say that, did I? Actually, I don't know of that many cults in Korea.

No, really, once you start seeing it, Korea is everywhere. They are slowly, silently taking over the world.

I haven't seen MI:3 yet but it was written by JJ Abrams the guy who did Lost (which has two Korean characters) and Alias (which I haven't seen but was told it mentions N Korea). So maybe it's the writter whose the Kimchi buff.

A lot of TESLers in Korea have a hard time admitting it, but Korea is an up and comer, both as an audience and as a reference point, and it's time to stop being surprised when Korea is mentioned on tv or in a movie.
If Heath Ledger's next movie has a Laotian reference in it, I'll be the first to start a thread on it...
