|

OK folks. I dont dislike Kimchi but I dont love it, either... its just there. I can it or not.
But when I do eat it, almost invariably, 2 things happen:
1) I pass the most terrible smelling wind
2) My fecal exit area becomes raw, red, and itchy.
Also, I know of some people who say it causes stomach pain...
Anyone else out there got this problem? |

Where is the option for: why is was this even posted as a poll in the first place?
Or, the option for: why do you eat it at all if it does this to you?

Now come on Homer, don't get all defensive.. or are you homer kim? Or is Kimchi a national Canadian food, too? This is a serious question... I just want to know if anyone else here has this problem.
Well, I don't usually eat it but sometimes it's kinda hard to avoid spicey food (especially if you don't live in a big korean city) because we are in Korea duh.... |

Not getting defensive pest2....just wondering why you would eat the stuff at all if it had such effects on your body...thats all.
Don't know how you got the impression I was defending anything here.... |

Homer, conducting a poll for expats in Korea on how their health is affected by kimchi sounds like a perfectly relevent, rational thing to do. Unless you are obsessed with sweeping Korea's flaws under the carpet. Otherwise, why would you resent a poll? Why would you resent a question? |

Kimchi is now a flaw barking?
Oh my how far the little train can go....
As for resent...where the heck did you get that from....all I did was wonder about the sanity of eating this food if it makes pest2 pass horrid gass and have a raging butt hole....yes...I was sweeping under the carpet...how stupid of me.
As for the why put up a poll on this...it concerned the main question, not the question of kimchi itself, on which by the way, I have zero opinion beyond the fact that I enjoy eating it with some of my meals....wait..was that me being an apologist again? Yes of course it was...go ahead and discuss the effect kimchi has on your butt hole barking...in fact...go in deatil..does it give you the runs? Do you crap your pants because of it and have to go around with a brown stain on your pants and smelly stuff running down your leg?
Oh my...that must be tough.... |

Yeah, I really tried to make sure I implied that it is a serious thing... I don't know how else to ask. And it is a big problem if you live in this country because kimchi is served with EVERYTHING here. |

I like kimchi but kimchi doesn't like me. What was that country and western song, "Burning Ring of Fire"? |

I agree that in your case it seems like a big problem...however...I repeat my question...why eat it at all if it affects you this way? Really, I am serious here. I am slightly allergic to watermelon...so..I don't eat it...pretty simple no?
Even if kimchi does come with every meal here...it comes as a sidedish (unless you are into some sort of self torture thing and order kimcheechigea!) hence you don't have to eat it at all....wait...I must be defending something here and being an apologist or, and that is more likely, Korea is to blame here as they are force feeding you the stuff. |

Touche...does kimche give me horrid gass and a red rimmed butt hole with the runs?
Nope and I am sorry it affects you this badly...sound advice: avoid eating it. |

If you like to go out to eat and you live in Korea, chances are that you be at risk of eating kimchi. Sometimes, they hide it in your soup. Other times, you pay man won for a dinner that consists 30% of galbi (meat) and 70% of kimchi. If you dont eat the kimchi, you dont feel full.
Also, to answer you question about why ever eat it, kimchi is more than just a food to Koreans. So far, every new boss I have had has taken me and some coworkers out to dinner to eat kimchi. Not only do you have to eat it, but it seems like they're scrutinizing you to make sure you like it. So because its so important to adapting to Korea, questions about its effects on your body are also important. |

Interesting.
Still...you can always avoid eating more than a bit of it by explaining it makes you s-i-c-k.
Again, sorry it affects your body so negatively.
Perhaps use the toss it in the plant while they are not looking trick might work here? |

Kimchi is not a flaw any more than KFC is a flaw. It's just another food item with side effects. The side effects are a flaw.

What, may I ask, is wrong with putting up a poll on this subject? You have done nothing - NOTHING - to explain your initial reaction at all. Liking kimchi does not make you an "apologist". THIS does:

Asking questions about the side effects of a local delicassy is wrong, but throwing poo jokes into a relevent discussion is OK. Thank you for showing your own true colours. You've made it so much easier for the rest of us. |
