I didn't want to hijack the other thread, so here's a new one.

Two women said they did not like knee-highs. I figure it must be just a female thing -- envy Wink (just funnin with ya) -- Surely almost every other man out there is like me and loves the knee highs.

Doesn't have to be on Koreans only, on anyone.

Obviously, on a 200 pound woman they don't work, so no need to get too specific. I'm just talking generally, on a woman with nice legs.

Not with high heels. But with those sporty little cleets-style urban sneakers--fantastic.

Woman here.

Why we hate them?

Well, it plays up to every perverted male schoolgirl fantasy. Western women don't do the whole knee-high sock, Hello Kitty merchandise-wearing thing after, well, after we are schoolgirls. Whereas so many Korean women use 'cuteness' to get men to bow down to them.

Plus it looks so unflattering on legs unless the wearer is anorexic. Anorexia seems to be something that is accepted only in a few places in the world, Korea being one of them.

In the other thread, someone posted a picture of a skeletal girl who was supposed to be sexy because of her socks paired with a mini skirt. All I could think was that if she wasn't Korean the guy would have been laughing at her for looking like she'd just stepped out of Auschwitz.

And no, Im not jealous. I see half a million (well, slight exaggeration) Western men with Korean women every day. Makes sense, being in Korea and all. But I have lived in different Asian countries for enough years to thoroughly pissed off when men pull out the whole 'Asian women are better because they wear miniskirts' thing. And before you ask, Im about the same size as the average Korean women.

Especially when the Asian women they are dating have next to no English ability, and it is the length of the skirt the girl is wearing that is the basis of the entire relationship. Fine if its just for fun, but really, wtf?!

But it goes both ways. Today on the subway I saw a Korean man in a womens Vivienne Westwood top – the label clearly visible. Closely followed by a Korean couple (ie male and female) in Itaewon in matching baby pink tracksuits and baby pink baseball caps.

It seems Korea is full of cute boys and girls, rather than men and women.

But then Im sure everybody else who posts will disagree. Im just trying to explain where us gals are coming from.

Flame away.

I have fantastic legs, but there's no way I would do the knee high socks/high heel thing. Why the hell would you wear a cool, sexy outfit and then demean it by dressing your legs in something a 12 year old would wear? Your either a grown up or you a little girl. Make a decision.

I may be wrong...

But didn't I recently read a post where you threatened someone with banning if they didn't post pics to verify their claim to good looks?

Well....?

And without flaming any of the lovely women posting here, I really don't think your opinion matters. They're great. They're sexy. And they don't need to be associated with a schoolgirl thing in order to be thought so...

I just think they have a real sporty, natural look about them--WITHOUT THE HEELS--and yes, I think an image of youth is involved, but not as much youth as some would imply. I recently dated a very in-shape 29 year-old who wore them frequently on casual occasions and they were damn flattering. One of the art teachers at my school wears them regularly and she looks damn cute when she does.

Again, for the record, the heels do not sit well with me.

And in the end, like I said, it's up to us males and lesbians anyway. You can have your hairy chests, your Jersey-girl-haired Bon Jovi or your Lee, Jun-Ki--whatever floats your feline boat. But lay off the socks: they rock.

Note:

The editor would like to apologize for flotsam's use of the expressions "lay off the socks: they rock" and "the heels don't sit well with me". He had a lot of coffee today and is not in a right state of prose.

As I said in the other thread, I think there's really nothing sexier than a hot chick with knee-high socks and a mini-skirt. In fact, she can keep both on in the bedroom, too, because, as I said, it's very very SEXy.

However, I disagree about it having to do with schoolgirl fashion. Since when do schoolgirl's in America (where I grew up) wear mini-skirts, or knee-high socks for that matter? Certainly not where I went to school. My opinion is it has more to do with the association of knee-high black BOOTS, aka hooker boots. Growing up, I came to associate the long black boots with sex, and so the same probably holds true for socks.

If you're curious, the reason for skirts being sexy is the idea of easy access. The shorter the skirt, the easier to access. At least, that's how Master Jaji thinks.

And I will also say this: pantyhose are horribly dreadful. Dreadfully horrible. Nothing is less sexy than pantyhose. There is a strict no pantyhose policy in my crib. You may enter, but those awful slinkies must wait by the door.

Q.

We have to look at the women too. And it's just wrong. Besides which most I think most in men in general don't really care about clothes as long they are on the floor in an apartment.

Actually that's pretty much what I wore to school after my growth spurt hit. Knee socks, mary janes and a short tartan skirt.

Do a google search on school girls and more often you'll come up with knee socks and a short skirt.

The high heels thing tries to say 'look at me, I'm a big girl now. It's ok to f me no.' Just like weird crap that ends up on foreign food, this fad is just wrong.

From a girls point of view they look good until the skirts and shoes come off. That's why most of the girls sporting the knee socks are often wearing pantyhose underneath.

I only wear knee-high socks if I am wearing trousers that are 3/4 length.. You wouldn't catch me dead in them if I were wearing a skirt, long or short.

That's great, but my point was that I never encountered schoolgirls wearing those things when I went through puberty (i.e. my concepts of attraction were forming), so the theory is a bust. Maybe it's true for dudes with a schoolgirl fetish or something, but I am not attracted to teenage girls, and never saw the skirt/sock thing until coming to Korea. I'm just saying that women shouldn't generalize men in that way. Not all of us want to have a cutesy gf who looks or acts like a teeny bopper.

Maybe women should stop consulting each other about what looks good. I'd be more than happy to be a personal fashion consultant for the lovely ladies in my vicinity. Very Happy

The popular culture is that look is a school girl one... You might be different but if we are talking about trends here that's what's it's about.

I've come to the conclusion that women aren't actually dressing for men, they are dressing for other women. Sure we like men noticing us, but in the end fashion is about projecting an image of ourselves. In general I think women tend to be a lot more critical of eachother than men are of us in dress sense.

For example today on the subway there was this hot girl who was wearing an outfit that was a size too small. I'm sure if I was a man or could deal with dating chicks (quite frankly as a group we're insane and I don't know why you lot put up with us), I would find her very attractive as she had some junk in the trunk and a great rack. However I doubt that most guys would have noticed that jeans were so tight her butt was hanging over the pockets and her bra was cutting into her. Her boyfriend certainly didn't.

NO!

It could be in a house, a cabin, a shed, what have you...

But really, I want clarification on the verification issue...legs?

But in all seriousness, does it really bother you that much? And if it does really bother you that much...why?

Not sure that's really been answered as of yet.
