Hi all,

I'm in Ansan, does anyone know a book store in Ansan (or on the way into Seoul) that stocks LP guides.

Just a thought to save me a bit of time and not go all the way into Seoul.

Cheers.

Sorry I can't help you with finding a store in Ansan, but I do have some other advice. I live in Seoul but find it much cheaper to order directly from Lonely Planet's website (up to 10$ a title). If you order two or more you'll get free shipping. Plus I've gotten a free gift each time I've ordered from here. And finally, lest I start sounding like a commercial, it comes from Australia and delivery to me hasn't taken more than 3 weeks. Last time it was a week and a half!

Hope this helps.

I am looking for a Lonely Planet guide to Japan or Tokyo. My Korean friend said Kuyobo Bookstore off the Gwanghwanum (533) station on Line 5 is big and has English books. I'm hitting it up tomorrow. Another bookstore is Yongpung off Jongak (131) station on Line 1. PM me tomorrow night and I'll let you know if I find them.

I was just checking out the website but all the books I was looking at cost at least $20 U.S. How did you manage to get books at up to $10 a title?

There's another huge Kyobo bookstore in the basement of Kyobo tower near Gangnam Station. Lots of Lonely Planet guides there. Kyobo tower is the big red building that you can't miss. The English section there is actually better than the one at Gwangwhamun.

Bandi and Lundi's in the Coex mall also has a good selection. Samseong Station on the green line is where you go for that.

He said is was cheaper (to order direct from Lonely Planet) by up to $10 per title NOT that the books were $10 per title.

I looked on their website when I had to replace a lost phrasebook and the prices are the same if not cheaper in Bandi & Luni's in CoEx... huge selection too, although I had to have a friend in the US send the Brazilian Portuguese phrasebook over to me since that wasn't available in store..

They have a massive number of city guides too...

I find it cheaper and more convenient to order my lonely planet books, or any others for that matter from "what the book". They are reasonably priced and arrive to your door only a few days after ordering. Check out the website.

I am sure I posted about What the Book but it appears my post got deleted. I don't work for them so I hardly can think I am advertising. Weird. Rolling Eyes

I don't work for them either, i have just had nothing but great service from them in the past. I wonder if my post will be deleted. There are other book stores being plugged in this thread.

You can plug other bookstores all you want, as long as you don't interfere with the Dave's ESL Cafe Mods vs. WTB war.

Yup, this would be the third post where I am trying to tell the OP about What the Book?. It's a good bookstore and a good resource for people in Korea. The only bookstore in Korea that has a website in English is What the book? Yes, Kyobo and Bandi and Lundi's have larger selections, but my pick is still What the Book?. Go to the website and find whatever you like. He's got a lot of Lonely Planets in stock that he'll deliver free of charge in 3 or 4 days if you buy 2 books or more.

Good shopping.

Great place and there were TONS of lonely planets there.

I went to Kyobos off the Gwanghwanum Station (533) on Line 5. Excellent selection of Lonely Planet books, but I didn't see other publishers of travel books (Let's Go, etc.). A book on Tokyo was just over 23,000 won. The thicker book on Japan was 35,000 won.
