I have a question...even though my hagwan promises a roundtrip
flight apon receipt of my arrival to Korea. ( I front the flight then get reimbursed) What airline will allow a yearlong stay or should I book a return flight back to NA along the six month range "just in case" then later change the return flight based on conditions with my job?
What do most of you do with a year-long contract? What airline will allow a yearlong stay, or is this not an issue with an E2 visa?
Thanks for any advice.

i decided to buy a one-way ticket ($600 from USA). get the hogwan to reimburse you immediately for the initial flight and fly you home if/when you finish your contract. not sure about 1 year open tickets; sorry. most airlines offer them, but they will cost you more for the flexibility. best to check with the airlines. why not just come on a one-way if you have an e2 visa? |

Simple answer.... have them send you a "ONE YEAR OPEN RETURN" air ticket.
If you front a one way ticket here... they will probably re-imburse you eventually, then when it is time to go home... they will give you 1/2 of the price of a return ticket and NOT the price of a full fare one way ticket home.
If you get your own return ticket they will likely give you 1/2 when you get here and 1/2 at the end of your contract and you take the risk of any exchange rate changes....
have them send you a "ONE YEAR OPEN RETURN" air ticket.

have them send you a "ONE YEAR OPEN RETURN" air ticket.
btw... airlines are frequently asked about one year open return tickets and have no problem talking to you about them.

Unless you're dead set on going home in exactly 365 days, it's much easier to just buy a one way ticket and hope for the best! If nothing else, it'll make you think and re-think calling it quits too early since you won't have a handy ticket lying around!! |
