That's right lingerie. Cause that's one of the words you can't do an Internet search for at my school.
You see, our school has a network with a censor (that's even less precise than the one on Dave's) which I discovered one day by typing the phrase adult learning into Google and getting a big fat:
접속이 차단 되었습니다
Which led me to explore what will be caught by and what escapes the government censor. Few surprises for:
Caught
1. Lingerie
2. Porn, porno, pornography.
3. Sex. And therefore homosexual, bi-sexual, etc.
4. F**k
But, before I got bored with trying, all of the following got through:
Escaped
1. Gay, queer, homo, fag. (Must be because the complaints of calcium deficient Canucks and chainsmoking Brits...)
2. Transgender
3. Dick, *beep*, *beep*, cunt.
4. Bitch.
5. Dildo.
6. Anal.
and
7. The Dirty Sanchez.
Several of which, you will note, did not make it through the Dave-o-Censor.
Now, what I found more interesting, and I imagine it is due to the prevalence of the English words being used in porn sites here, is that other escapees include:
1. 호모
2. 포노/보노
3. 게이
4. 동성애자
Which leads to several possible conclusions:
1. The authorities are in denial about the existence of Korean sites on these subjects, of which there are many.
Or...
2. They are not trying to shield the students and teachers from these issues at all.
Or...
3. They have just twatted their authoritarian machinations as usual.
Anybody else's school have the same censor? Anyone have different conclusion? Anyone give a beaver's butt?
Appendix
1. qu**r, f*g
3. d**k, pen*s, p***y, c**t
4. b***h
**Note: Just realized I spelled "porno" wrong in Korean. Will try on Friday after my day off--woohoo!

Number 3. Authoritarianism always fails in this way. The people who fill these roles just aren't smart enough to do otherwise. But, be careful; they are usually brutal enough to do other things if you call them on it. |
