what it is with Korean people, young and old alike, who walk around with zero spatial awareness? I mean, walking in one direction, head in another is bad enough, but the killer is when someone appears to actually look at you, and then walk in front, or actually into you! It's one kilometer from the PC room to my hakwon. Twice today while making that journey, people walked in front of me while I was riding after looking at me (we have a bicycle path in the sidewalk), and once while stopped at a light, some old woman just walked into the back of my bike. She seemed offended! I spend my breaks at school outside keeping the kids off the road, cause they chase each other around and just run right out into the road. None have been hit.....yet.

This happens in countries with dense populations (read: civilization), OP. this happened ZILLIONS of times back home in Dallas. To me, someone complaining about conditions related to overcrowding may as well just say "I'm from some small rural place that sucks nuts" and "I've no life experience besides my tiny hometown and Seoul".

Hope that helps clarify matters.

I always appreciate how people say "excuse me" and "oh, i'm sorry" when they bump into here in Dallas.

One of my students always use to run out into the middle of the street when we took them down to the bus. I was always telling him not to do it as he'd get hit by a car one day but he never listened.

As fate would have it, one day, as usual, he runs out into the street and gets hit by a 4WD. His leg gets caught between the bumper bar and the road and is broken in three places. He needed three surgeries, over 4 months, to have pins and metal rods placed in his leg to straighten and heal the breaks. Needless to say he has never run out onto the street since then.

I felt like saying "I told you so" cause he's a little smart ass all the time but I also felt sorry for him. Must have hurt like hell. That's one lesson he'll never forget.

I recommend this newbie thread be moved to the "general discussion" forum where it belongs...

When i see nature-mentaries featuring ants, Korea comes to mind. There's a brand of chaos in action here. Some disorder and some order.
Rules that don't make much sense unless you are bred in the colony.
