At my hogwon there are four foriegn teachers-2 American(including me), one Canadian, and a New Zealander. The Canadian is leaving at the end of June and our boss hasn't paid any of our pensions, not exactly a shock. We have been on his case and he finally said he would sign myself and the other American up and had us copy our ARC's front and back. This was almost a month ago and payday came and went and he says he has submitted our paperwork to the pension office. The New Zealander says he will quit if he has to pay pension and that what we are doing will give us bad kharma. The Canadian has this year and he worked another eighteen months at another job where they did pay his pension and he wants to apply to get it all back. I had a nasty fight with our boss about this and he said he didn't believe in paying taxes and he has to take care of his family and so on. He has been trying to get the Canadian to agree to him reporting half of his income but has done nothing to actively do anything about it. It seems like he's stringing us all along. The Canadian is going to go to the pension office and basically sign up/report him. The questions I have are these:
How will this affect the rest of the employees? Will the New Zealander and the Koreans have to pay?
If the other American and I are not in the system will we get in trouble? Get hit with any fines?
Will the Canadian get a full refund for both schools since he hasn't been paying in for the last 17 months he was here even though it was our boss and not him?
There are two schools and if the address is not correct at immigration, are they at all connected?
If all three of us go in together is that a way to fix this since we are being proactive?
If he did submit the paperwork as he claimed, how long should it take to go through? I would think this would be a trip to the pension office.
Basically, has anyone gone through this? What can be expected?
Any answers or advice would be greatly appreciated. This situation is going to be ugly and I want to be prepared if that is possible. |
