I heard it was ten days according to my CT and 90 days for the ARC. What is the time frame for getting a medical once the visa is issued and one starts working?

The medical timeframe has nothing to do with visa issuance.

You have 90 days from the day you enter the country to apply for the ARC. The medical is required in order to apply for the ARC; therefore, you need to give yourself enough time to get the results back.

Beyond that, the sooner you get your ARC the better: it's required to set up your health coverage, bank accounts, cell phone service, the list goes on... You're not doing yourself any favors by putting it off.

There is alot of confusion on the medical check-up. Immigration gives 90 days before the ARC needs to be issued but this is for all long-term Visa holders in Korea and not just E-2s.
Now the school needs to register all teachers at the local board of education within the first 2-4 weeks of employment (depends on the local board of education). In order to register someone they need to have the teacher's resident or ARC number so you need to get your medical test done and the ARC issued pretty much ASAP.

Exactly. Anyone putting it off is foolish. Or perhaps narcotic-dependent.

This is correct.

You must register within 10 working days at your local board of education to teach legally (may be longer in some areas). You must have your ARC to register.

So, Immigration's 90 day rule is trumped by the Board of ED.

If you just start your job and it takes a while for the immigration office to get your ARC done..more than the 10 days and a few days to get your results back from the hospital...How do you manage the 10 days time frame to register with an ARC?
