Hi there,
How are you? I'm fine thank you ...and you?
So I often have to speak to kids on the telephone and have decided that I'm bored asking "do you like Kimchi"? So I have decided to make fun scripts that are actually interesting and sort of funny...such as getting students to rant about the efficency and the cost of public transport in the UK.
So, I ask you...if you have a "homecall" script, please post it so other teachers can use it.
I have another one about the war in Iraq.
C'mon, let's share.
Heres one of mine...
Senior conversation 2
Im lost.
Mike: Can you help me. Im visting form the UK and Im lost.
Ss: Sure. Where do you want to go?
Mike: Im looking for a __A__.
S: AhhI know where there is a __A__.
Mike: How long does it take to get there?
Ss: It takes about __B__ minutes in car
Mike: I dont have a car. How long does it take on foot?
Ss: Oh, in that case, it will take __C__ minutes.
Mike: Hmmm.thats far. Would it be quicker to take __D__
Ss: __E__.
Mike: How much does __D__ cost to the __A__?
Ss: Im sorry,__F__, but it will not be expensive compared to the UK. The UK is over-priced especially for transport. And when you consider its efficiency, it represents poor value for money for both customers and the UK tax payers.
Mike: __G__.
A= hotel / museum / tourist information point
B= 5/ 10/ 12
C= 20/ 30 / about 40
D= a taxi / a bus
E= of course / yes, it will/ yeah, sure it will
F= I have no idea/ I dont know exactly/ Im not sure
G= you got that right/ yes, it certainly is/ how right you are |
