There are many GnBs in Daejeon - I know most of them.
Can you be a bit more specific? |

I did a tour of duty with GnB in Ilsan. Was not a bad place to work at as I was the only waygookin teacher and that pretty much gave me the run of the place.
Their books are shite though so be prepared to do a lot of supplementing of their rather anemic curriculum. |

This is a terrible franchise (at least in my experience.) You will lose millions of brain cells daily using their texts, and many branches do not permit outside material. I advise you do a word search on this board and read the reviews from past teachers.
Good luck. |

I heard they are the fastest growing ESL franchise in Korea...but that might be crapola. And it certainly does not mean they are any good.
Teachers I have found complain about the texts monotony and the lack of room for creativity in the classroom. The curriculum is usually strictly adhered to.
I have seen some of the texts and they are the usual dribble used by people who were too lazy to put too much thought into language learning.
Most GnB working hours are standard 2pm-8pm.
But don't judge your school by the franchise rep. this one could be great.
Talk to some of the teachers at the school.
tzechuk could probably tell you more than most about Daejeon and GnB I guess. |

I had a lot of fun at the GnB I worked for as it was very newbie friendly. A real effort was made not to rake me over the coals as I was paid on time, and the boss Judy was a really nice lady. She and I had a few chats of course about my teaching style and all that but for the most part she was content to let me do my job and leave me alone. She never insisted I use the GnB books and oddly enough I noticed that the rest of the Korean Teachers mostly avoided the GnB materials as well.
I would say working at the right GnB could well be a pleasant experience, but most likely it varies from location to location.
Talk to the teachers is the biggie. |

I worked for a couple of GnB in Daejeon and they never told me to use any of the GnB materials. I was able to choose my own book and developed my own plans and stuff.
It was a very positive environment for me. |
