Why, if this is a predominantly Christian country, do they call themselves the Red Devils? The Bible makes it clear that such evil words should not be used in jest. I found it highly hypocritical and it is one the reasons why I respect those heathens in Japan more as they don't pretend to be Christians.
Also, I wonder if these same Devils will find it as easy to drug the opposing teams with tranquilisers in Germany as it was in Korea?
Look at how drugged the Italians were during their game with Korea during the last World Cup; the guys on the bench weren't sleeping because soccer is boring I assure you, and the players on the field running around so drugged-up they were dragging their knuckles on the ground!
If the Korean soccer team is reading this, to you I say: fair play and sticking to your Christian morals will garner you more respect in the civilised world than anything you could possibly hope to achieve during the World Cup. |

Well, as a Canadian with the freedom to do what I want and freedom of religion I haven't read the Bible, but many Koreans told me the Bible says that, and a person would be a fool to not trust a Korean. |

Huh? Only one-third of Koreans identify themselves as Christian. Nearly one-half of Seoulites though.
Predominantly? No.

So do you even consider yourself Christian?
I smell a troll.

And how do you this? Have you asked every single Korean on the peninsula? |

Definitely not a doctor.
There have been studies, census data and newspaper reports on this topic, and discussed ad infinitum here at Dave's over the last few years.
Geez. Get your facts straight. But then again, this thread is a joke. |

Maybe because Koreans, even the fundamentalist Christian ones, have a grasp of the material world. When's the last time you saw a good old Harry Potter book-burning in Korea? |

When's the last time you saw a Canadian set himself on fire, or cut of his finger, or stick a sword into his stomach, or cover himself in bees and jumo on a Japanese flag? What a great grasp of the material world as you put it. |

Doctor Bacon is Derrek, aka Gollum, aka Big Black Equus, and is here only to be a troll. This time he's worked out an MO that allows him to insult both Canadians and Koreans every time he posts. I give him a couple more weeks on the board. |

it's been speculated (and with good evidence) that 'doctor bacon' is actually none other than our old friend 'joe thanks'. while the possibility certainly exists, i'm not quite ready to close the file on this one just yet.
if i recall correctly, joe thanks was the guy who was always saying how bad this and that movie is and rattling on about some foreign film which was much better. i didn't much care for his posts, because they always seemed rather snobbish to me. but at least he seemed to know what he was talking about most of the time. he seemed more like our own 'hermes.triceratops (or whatever)' to me. dave's very own dennis miller. someone i don't enjoy listening to very much, but feel ill-equipped to argue with.
doctor bacon is not like this at all. he's got all of the annoying arrogance, but not a whole lot to back it up with.
i'm going to put out three possibilities, and invite further discussion:
1. he's the genuine article. he's a real person who really does 'think' the same way he posts.
2. he's joe thanks, dumbing himself down to make canadians look bad.
3. he's a piece of toast, dumbing himself down to make canadians look bad.
if number 2 is correct, joe thanks has won a bit of respect from me, as he's doing an incredible job. |

Wrong, me thinks. Looking at the properties of his avatar reveals joethanks photobucket account, and he has some strange taste in pictures.

Anyhow, I don't think Christians came up with the name of the team.
