I'm currently studying an MA in International Relations online through an Australian University. One of the core subjects I have been taking this semester has been poorly taught, leaving my wondering what the hell I am spending so much money for. In a nutshell, there are no online lectures, no extra course materials save for a dozen websites referred to in the course outline and worst of all, nothing in the online course forum from the co-ordinator. I always thought the role of a lecturer was to facilitate discussion on a subject, but this guy has done nothing of the sort.
I'm interested to know from others here doing online study as to how your courses are structured and the support you recieve from teaching staff. Have your experiences been positive or not? |

Do you have professors with PhDs and published research doing the lectures?
Unlikely with distance/online degrees from high volume mills in Australia, especially Macquarie and USQ.
They are earning quite a reputation. |

I deliberately avioded both those places due to the brevity of their courses. I'm going through Deakin, which has a very good rep as regards their courses. I sought advice regarding my choice of course from two friends, one a prof at ANU and another a PhD candidate from Monash and both recommended the Deakin course. |
