Well I'm finished here in May but am coming back to swell my bank account for another year sometime in August.
Now I know what I can expect out here I wanna hit some charity shops in the UK and buy up a load of board games and kiddy books (esp. choose your own adventure and usborne solve your own adventure books)
I'll be looking at WAY more than my luggage allowance could cope with. SO I'm trying to find out about shipping by sea. I've got mates here who I'm pretty sure would sit on my package while I'm gone.
So anyone know what companies in England offer the service? How long does it take? Can I pack aerosol deodorant? (save me lugging 100 of em with me when I leave again) How much can I expect to pay per kg?
Thanks |

You have a computer and access to the 'net'... use it. |

blunder1983,
I used these: -
http://www.excess-baggage.com/
They were pretty good, but they don't (or didn't, this was two years ago) do door-to-door in Korea if it's by sea. They'll pick up from any address in the UK but you'll have to collect it from a major sea port when it gets here. I picked it up from Busan. I also had to pay some duty to Busan customs, so beware.
It took about six weeks if I remember correctly. Don't see why you can't pack deodorant, but contact them and see what they say. Contact details are on their website. |

I've shipped many things just through the regular postal service. |

For boxes up to about 20kg
(and 2meters max. size (length + 2xheight + 2x width) ...
POSTAL SURFACE mail works as good as anything.
Door to door and if it is labeled as school supplies and valued under US$100 then there is NO duty or import tax. (yes, Korea uses US$ and NOT KRW as a measure of value for import taxes).
Standard postal rules apply re: aerosols and flamables.
Shipping times run 6-10 weeks on average for surface post.
If you are talking BIG weight (100kg or more) then a freight forwarder would be your best option. Do an internet search or have one of your mates from home look them up in the local business directory. |

Curious if anyone knows...with the current avian flu hysteria, could I have my favorite down quilt sent to Korea, or would it be considered "hazardous material"? (I know they sell down in Korea, this is a comfort item.) |
