I've searched every flipping website (eslcafe, worknplay, englishspectrum, koreajoblink, english work) I've searched almost every recruiting agencie's website and talked to many of them (bcm, worknplay, eslcareerbank, etc) and I can not find anything on....

Public High Schools in Seoul!!

I've even searched job postings from last year to see what's the story on them and I've come up with nothing. I know about SMOE and they're hiring in for Aug 25th, but only for elementary and middle schools. I've been holding out on my job offers until now in hopes of spotting at least one job opportunity for a high school in Seoul, but it's just been a frustrating eternal wait. Evil or Very Mad

I guess it's time to give up. Has anyone had one of these jobs or seen them...or maybe been a friend of a friend who's cousin did? I'd just like to know if there's any reason to look in the future.

Yeah, I think it's a lost cause. Let me know if you find anything, but right now it feels like it's about time for the superimposed face of the Minister of Education in Seoul to start laughing at us for searchign for the holy grail of ELS jobs in Korea....

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I just talked with a recruiter that works with SMOE and she said that right now about 70-80% of the high schools in Seoul are renewing their contracts and the rest of the positions are pretty much being filled by references.

Hi Morgolking,

Looks like its just us^^

I'm not sure of that figure.High schools are just developing their native speaker programmes.I work at a Seongnam middle school9first native speaker there) and our high school has nobody there.Teachers don't even know WHEN they'll have someone there as the focus is more on the korean university tests.

The jobs exist.I recently called one girls high school in Kyonggi do and they called back to arrange for an interview that would have started in 10 days or so.

The jobs exist.Maybe(??) not downtown Seoul, but I'm certain they do.

This brings us back to our original question of course.....how to catch wind of them??

I'm just about at the random dialling stage...

MorgolKing,

As you seem to have noticed, many H. Schools in Korea either re-up their current teachers or hire localy (i.e. do not place ads abroad).

My Uni works the same until they find they cannot hire a teacher (not happened yet).

Some of the better jobs out there work the same: hire locally and do not place ads.....
