Distance Education Training Council. It's the accrediting agency for the University of New England (Australia) that people keep posting about.

That is a good question. I know that a lot of distance education degrees are not recognized by other universities in Canada and America. If you take a degree with the online university and later want to get a master degree from another university, sometimes the new university doesn't recognize the online degree as an actual degree. I worry about it, too.
I worry that Korea may become very strict in what university degrees are accepted. A 4 year degree in fire jumping from a Mongolian University may not be accepted, but I imagine a university from America, Canada and Australia will always be okay. |

You will just have to just give it a try. There probably is not a yes or no. I wouldn`t bother trying to ask immigration either because they wont know or will just make up an answer on the spot. |

It will be ok.. DETC is recognized by the US Dept. of Education.
Just so long as it does not say:
Easy Sam's 1 month Degree in Basketweaving.
you will be ok. |

Thanks for the info! It's American Military University, BA in Intelligence Studies. Just validating my experience with a piece of paper. It's funny, I am more qualified to teach three of the classes than the actual professors.

You're in the same boat as my friend. He already had an MA in Philosophy (Ethics) before going to law school. For some reason, the law school wouldn't give him credit for the freshman Ethics class for law students despite the fact that he was qualified to teach it.

Ok alex, it might be dodgy in this case.
Even if the DETC is accredited immigration might not accept it as a valid B.A. (even if it is!).
You need to check with Korean immigration or perhaps the consulate near you. |

Thanks for the info guys! They just announced today that they were approved for regional accreditation by the NCA. They are probably the most flexible school as they cater to the military/police/intelligence agencies. The semesters are all eight weeks and classes start every month. All of the classes are online and the books are included in the tuition and mailed to the student. So, if there are any F-2's over in Korea who really want to teach but do not have a BA check out www.amu.apus.edu I should be joining everyone by the end of the year or early 2007.
