Pointcast: It was pretty neat when it was first introduced. I remember having a couple push news tickers running on my desktop. Push has been pretty much replaced by news pushed into your browser home page. Mine is my.yahoo.com. I also use a pointcast like service for my PDA. Avantgo.

PC Jr: I have one. But not the chicklet keyboard.

Zip: The stupidest technology. Great hardware but the media was always hugely over priced. It didn't take a fool to realize a CD burner was cheaper, even if the initial hardware was more expensive, the media was way cheaper. Sure initially you couldn't re-write but you quickly realized almost never reused traditional floppies. You mostly just copied stuff to a floppy and kept the floppy as a kind of ad hoc backup.

Microsoft Bob: I used to work out with a guy from MS named Bob.

Real Media: The initial versions were pretty good but then they started loading it up with all this nagware. I stopped installing it to new systems because I hated to turn off the half dozen little nagware things they defaulted on.

AOL: The only good thing about them were the free floppy disks they used to give out. You could format them and reuse them. Once everyone switched to CD, forget it. People came to refer to AOL "50,000 free hours" disks as "bisk".... a play on bisque. It was like AOL would ladle out their disks like a thick soup.

Well deserved spot for Windows 2000 there. Couldn't agree more. The headaches that caused. Ow.

All I know is that before XP came along I was always pressing the restart switch.

Since XP I rarely have to restart. I think XP is a pretty good product. The way it recognizes whatever I plug into it is pretty cool.

I'm not saying I'm a fan of Microsoft because all the earlier versions of windows were pretty poor.

However, I am optimistic about Vista. Improved XP sounds pretty good to me.

I really liked Pointcast. I thought it was neat and cutting edge. Of course, it only got updated like once a day because it was dialup days and I was in the Uk where we had to pay by the minute for our telephone calls..

In fact, wasn't Pointcast somewhat like Microsoft Channels but less crappy? And, since ye just said that MS-DOS4 was the last time Microsoft used that designation, and that Win95 had it only secretly... Remember IE4? That was also a disaster.. IE3 was the first half-decent Explorer, but 4 was... poor..
